Continue nurturing and protecting the opportunities

First fruits are exciting.  Incredibly gratifying.

They prove it’s possible.  That you can do it.  They’re hope, vindication, and satisfaction all rolled up in one.

But whether it’s the first squash and okra out of your garden, or that first sale that comes from a new campaign, they aren’t the goal.

The goal is to harvest more than would be necessary to make all the work and time and materials and frustration in the months since preparing the soil actually worth it.

The goal is to harvest in such abundance that you more than meet your needs and can happily give the product of toil away to those around you.

And that means continuing to harvest.  To continue nurturing and protecting the opportunities you’ve been cultivating so that they continue to bear fruit.

Relish the first fruits.  Celebrate!

Just remember, there’s still work to do.
